Western States Chiropractic College, Salutatorian, 1981

UC Santa Cruz, Bachelors in Biology, with honors,  1978

Since childhood Dr. Michels has had a driving curiosity about what makes people tick. The child of a Psychologist and an Engineer he constantly worked to bridge the world bet

ween the intricate machinery of the human body with the complex information processing and defense systems that constitute our mind. Since childhood he has been a constant student of the sciences, especially of biology.

Growing up in California in the 70’s he was exposed to many ideas on what is the optimal diet. He developed a passion for healthy eating and an interest in nutritional supplementation.

At U.C.S.C. (Santa Cruz) he developed a deep knowledge and appreciation of the working of the cell with its genetic information, biochemical pathways, its intelligent functions, and adaptive survival behaviors. It was during these years he met a chiropractor who deeply integrated spirituality and nutrition into his holistic practice. He decided to pursue an advanced degree at W.S.C.C. (Now Western States University).

Since obtaining his D.C. degree and license Dr. Michels has practiced two years in Anchorage Alaska, nine years in Myrtle Creek Oregon, and 20 years in Eugene. He has continued his chiropractic studies, including his certification in Network Chiropractic and has studied many other healing modalities. He continues his fascination with nutrition and follows the current research constantly.

He also is a student of traditional energy systems including the Chinese Meridians, the Kabbalah and the Sepherot, the Chakras, and Shamanic wisdom.

He has two adult children from his first marriage, two adult step daughters from Susi’s first marriage and a younger son in college. He lives adjacent to the practice  with his beautiful wife Susi and Lilly (golden retriever). They love to hike, garden, kayak and visit the Oregon coast and mountains.

Dr. Michels eldest son and daughter and her two boys (Oren and Ethan).
